Painting Metal - Step One I love metal! It comes in all different shapes, sizes, and styles. You can use metal to frame a picture, punch a letter title, create a funky name tag and it looks great dry embossed!

What I really love about metal is the way it can be altered. With a few simple strokes of paint, you have a whole new look. Sometimes the metal accents and embellishments we have in our scrapbooking supplies look great, but do not go with our pictures and paper. Add a little paint, and presto! You have a whole new look!

Here are a few simple steps to making metal more prominent on your pages!

  1. Put your pictures and paper together that you are going to use for your layout.
  2. Try taking a pre=made metal frame and pick a picture, quote, or journaling that you can put into the frame after you have painted it.
  3. Painting Metal - Step Two Choose a colour or colours of paint to use on your frame. You can paint the entire frame or just brush on some accents.
  4. When the paint is dry, add your picture, etc. to it and adhere it to your page with metal glue, or double-sided tape.

There are lots of easy and creative things you can do with paint and metal! Give a few of these a try:

Painting Metal - Results
  • Paint the raised picture on a plaque
  • Paint a metal eyelet or clip to complement your page
  • Paint a bunch of brads and use them to create a flower or spell a word.
  • Stamp a word on some metal mesh for a really cool look!

I hope that the above ideas get your creative juices flowing and your paintbrushes stroking! Keep on scrapbooking!
